Abstract

In this work it was evaluated the characteristics of Glued Laminated Bamboo (GLB) manufactured from two bamboo species (Dendrocalamus giganteus and Bambusa vulgaris). Bamboo strips were submitted to two treatment types: water immersion and chemical washing-up. Two commercial adhesives were tested: urea-formaldehyde and resorcinol-formaldehyde. Dimensional variation, static bending, compression strength, shearing parallel to glued line and to bamboo fibers and impact resistance were applied to the GLB. Results showed the influence of the tested variable and its interactions on composite characteristics.
